Only Units in a Spot have a Life Stat.

Whenever Life would be 0 or less, the Unit is Removed to Chuted. If the Card Leaves a Spot for another reason, it also loses its Life stat.

When Life is gained through Healing, it cannot exceed Health. Some Effects will raise both Stats at the same time.

A Unit always retains is Health Stat, though the Value may change.
